A SNOOPY GIRL
I tried to snoop the other day,
To see what I could see,
To try to find a gift I thought,
That might have been for me.
I went upstairs to Mother's room,
I thought I knew just where,
She'd put a package just this size,
But there was nothing there.
I looked in drawers and on the shelf,
And even beneath the bed,
I looked in baby sisters room,
And even in the shed.
I found a pair of boxing gloves,
A pocket Knife and gun,
I thought I heard my Mother call,
You should have seen me run.
At least I thought I knew just why,
I hadn't found it yet,
Because they hadn't bought it,
For I'd been good you bet,
Except the time the other day,
When Mother was away,
And I slapped my little brother,
And I wouldn't let him play.
And then there was another time,
When I almost told a lie,
And I broke a dish, and spilled some milk,
And made my sister cry.
I guess I haven't been so good,
This year that's past, but gee,
I'll be lots better next year,
Just you wait and see.
