HOW ONE REVIVAL STARTED.

I heard about a church one time,
That had a 'Meeting slated',
The evangelist was a godly Man,
So the members sat and waited.

The pastor asked for volunteers,
To call from door to door,
But all the members shook their heads,
They had invited them before.

The pastor asked, who then would plan,
To spend one hour each day,
To pray for unsaved folks they knew,
Some turned their heads away.

At last the opening evening came,
Most everyone was there,
They had to know, just who would come,
And who would lead in prayer.

The songs were good, but not too good,
The offering was poor,
The members smiled and nodded heads,
They'd been through this before.

When a woman came from 'off the street',
And sat by Sister Snide,
She turned her shoulder just a bit,
And pulled her skirt aside.

The preacher preached with all his heart,
The pastor sat and prayed,
The members sat and nodded on,
And sheep and lambs both strayed.

The preacher found it hard to preach,
The pastor sure could pray,
But they knew they did not dare give up,
So they prayed all night and day.

They called upon the Savoir,
As they had for many years,
And they finally got the victory,
As they prayed in faith through tears.

The following day the strangest things,
Took place within that town,
Conviction came to many hearts,
And many knees bowed down.

Forgiveness ask, and things made right,
And hours spent in prayer,
And calls was made in many homes,
And many burdens shared.

The following night the altar filled,
Repentant tears flowed free,
And many 'members' sought the Lord,
And didn't care who'd see.

Revival really hit that town,
When the church was made to see,
It wasn't just the preachers job,
But their responsibility.

Many people came to ask,
How did revival start?
The answer came from several there,
In two believers heart.

The pastor and the preacher,
Believed what Jesus said,
Where two of you are gathered,
There will be three instead.

The Father met the crying need,
And He will meet your own,
But revival is the church's job,
Not the Preacher's job alone.

If you really want revival,
If you want the Lord to care,
Get behind the church's program,
Pray; and call; and give; and share.

God will see your need and answer,
As He did so long ago,
For He loves with love eternal,
And He wants the church to grow.
