MARY'S GIFT
She had an alabaster box,
Of spices pure and sweet,
She came to worship Jesus,
And anoint His weary feet.
The disciples were annoyed,
For they thought it wasn't right,
For a woman, such as Mary,
Should at least keep out of sight.
And then the waste of money,
That was spent, they all were sure,
Could surely be spent wiser,
If given to the poor.
But Jesus said "Just let her be,
Her love is deeper yet,
Than all your empty promises,
For you will soon forget."
"She did it for my burial,
While I am here to see,
So let it be remembered,
As a gift of love for me"
