TO THE BRIDE AND GROOM

BRIDE

So you've gone and got a husband,
Now I think that's mighty fine.
I hope you picked a good one,
I did; when I got mine.

We don't agree on everything,
We didn't from the start.
We did agree to share our love,
And that with all our heart.

You'll have to learn to wash and iron,
And learn to cook their "spuds".
And another thing that's wise to learn,
Is keep button on their duds.

Learn to say "I'm sorry dear",
Before you go to bed.
They'll probably be the smartest words,
That any wife has said.

And when you've had a hectic day,
When nothing went just right.
He may have had a bad one too,
And that could cause a fight.

So forget the interruptions,
And forget the cake that fell.
Meet him with a kiss of welcome,
And all will turn out well.

I'll bet you're tired of folks who tell,
You what you aught to do.
Learn to listen to your heart,
That's my advice to you.

Learn to give as well as take,
For marriage is for two.
The best advice for life or love,
Is still the "Golden Rule".

And when the new rubs off a bit,
And the tarnish starts to show.
Remember work and loving care,
Makes the sterling silver glow.

If God should give you children,
To bless your married life.
Don't get so busy mothering,
You forget to be a wife.

I've watched a lot of husbands,
And I know what makes them mad.
I also know a thing or two,
That makes them mighty glad.

So as you look ahead; my dear,
I hope the road is long.
And though there may be dreary days,
You will always have a song.

Now every time a gal gets wed,
Advice comes in by dozens.
From Mom and Pop and all your friends,
As well as Aunts and Cousins.

Now I don't know about other folks,
But I've been through the mill.
We've had out ups and had our downs,
But we're a-going still.

I suspect he's given his heart to you,
For you to hold for life.
But you'll have to keep his stomach filled,
To be a real good wife.

You've gotta baby them a lot,
And let them think they're boss.
Let them have their way sometimes,
Or they get mighty cross.

Now don't ya get discouraged,
With all I've had to say.
Cause marriage can be awful nice,
When two folds "feel that way".

When love and work and sorrow's shared,
And you love him most to pieces.
If you help him when he rakes the leaves,
He may help with the dishes.

So, honey here's the best to you,
May God look from above.
And keep you well and strong and true,
And keep you both in love.
