1 AND at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. |
And at that time shall Michael stand vp, the great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people, and there shalbe a time of trouble, such as neuer was since there was a nation, euen to that same time: and at that time thy people shalbe deliuered, euery one that shalbe found written in the booke. 2And many of them that sleepe in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to euerlasting life, and some to shame and euerlasting contempt. 3And they that be wise shall shine as the brightnesse of the firmament, and they that turne many to righteousnesse, as the starres for euer and euer. 4But thou, O Daniel, shut vp the wordes, and seale the booke euen to the time of the ende: many shall runne to and fro, and knowledge shall bee increased. 5 Then I Daniel looked, and behold, there stood other two, the one on this side of the banke of the riuer, and the other on that side of the banke of the riuer. 6And one said to the man clothed in linnen, which was vpon the waters of the riuer; How long shall it bee to the end of these wonders? 7And I heard the man clothed in linnen, which was vpon the waters of the riuer, when he held vp his right hand, and his left hand vnto heauen, and sware by him that liueth for euer, that it shalbe for a time, times, and an halfe: and when hee shall haue accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these things shall bee finished. 8And I heard, but I vnderstood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shalbe the end of these things? 9And he said, Goe thy way, Daniel: for the wordes are closed vp and sealed till the time of the end. 10Many shalbe purified, and made white and tried: but the wicked shall doe wickedly: and none of the wicked shall vnderstand, but the wise shall vnderstand. 11And from the time that the dayly sacrifice shalbe taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set vp, there shalbe a thousand two hundred and ninetie dayes. 12Blessed is he that waiteth, and commeth to the thousand, three hundred and fiue and thirtie dayes. 13But goe thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in the lot at the end of the dayes.

1 "At that time there shall arise Michael, the great prince, guardian of your people; It shall be a time unsurpassed in distress since nations began until that time. At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book. 2 Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace. 3 But the wise shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, And those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever. 4 "As for you, Daniel, keep secret the message and seal the book until the end time; many shall fall away and evil shall increase." 5 I, Daniel, looked and saw two others, one standing on either bank of the river. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was upstream, "How long shall it be to the end of these appalling things?" 7 The man clothed in linen, who was upstream, lifted his right and left hands to heaven; and I heard him swear by him who lives forever that it should be for a year, two years, a half-year; and that, when the power of the destroyer of the holy people was brought to an end, all these things should end. 8 I heard, but I did not understand; so I asked, "My lord, what follows this?" 9 "Go, Daniel," he said, "because the words are to be kept secret and sealed until the end time. 10 Many shall be refined, purified, and tested, but the wicked shall prove wicked; none of them shall have understanding, but the wise shall have it. 11 From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the horrible abomination is set up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days. 12 Blessed is the man who has patience and perseveres until the one thousand three hundred and thirty-five days. 13 Go, take your rest, you shall rise for your reward at the end of days."

v 1 Daniel has been shown bitter times ahead for Israel, but is consoled that In the worst time of all, the Great Tribulation, Michael will come to their aid. The Lord is a good book keeper, and the book referred to in verses 32 and 33 is mentioned in Ps. 69:28, the book of the living. The wording there would indicate that every one who ever lived is written in this book, but the wicked will be blotted out, leaving only the names of the righteous. This would be the same book referred to in Daniel 12:1. v 2,3. At death the body sleeps but the soul does not, 1 Thess, 5:13. Jews in the Tribulation who come to trust the Messiah will be resurrected at the Second Coming of Christ and partake of Kingdom blessings. Those who do not are unsaved and will not be resurrected until the Great White Throne Judgment. Those who believe will also lead others to believe, so glorified in eternity, they shall shine like stars, Matt. 13:43. Or as Phil. 2:15 “Ye shine as lights in the world.” v 4. Daniel was not to hide the word, but make it secure. Jews in Amos 8:12 would search for the word of the Lord but not find it, but in the Tribulation, eyes will search to and fro and find. Many things that were vague before are enlightened even to us by history and fulfilled prophesies. v 7. The answer was it would definitely be after Israel was broken by the Antichrist at the end of the last half of the 70th week spoken of in Dan. 8. v 8. Daniel asked Gabriel in effect, “What will be the outcome of all this?” He did understand some things from past prophesies, but wanted to know more of what would happen to Israel beyond the Tribulation. v 9,10. The answer was basically that he was to simply record it and not be too concerned about the explanation. The word was to be made secure and available, and many in that day would understand, but unbelievers would still not understand. v 11. From the time the altar was desecrated and an idol set up in the middle of the Tribulation would be three and one half years, or 42 months, or 1260 days, but this says 1290 days. Either 30 days is added before the idol is set up, or more likely, 30 days is added after the end of the Tribulation, allowing for judgment of Israel and judgment of the nations, and a cleaning up and organization of a new government. v 12,13. An additional 45 days brings this up to 1335 days. However it is figured, this will mark the beginning of full Millennial blessing. At his advanced age, Daniel is told to plan on death, but he is assured he will have the place assigned to him in the Millennium.
