1 AGAIN the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying,
2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.
3 Thus saith the Lord; I am returned unto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and Jerusalem shall be called a city of truth; and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the holy mountain.
4 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; There shall yet old men and old women dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for very age.
5 And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof.
6 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If it be marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in mine eyes? saith the Lord of hosts.
7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country;
8 And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness.
9 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Let your hands be strong, ye that hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
10 For before these days there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast; neither was there any peace to him that went out or came in because of the affliction: for I set all men every one against his neighbour.
11 But now I will not be unto the residue of this people as in the former days, saith the Lord of hosts.
12 For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.
13 And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
14 For thus saith the Lord of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the Lord of hosts, and I repented not:
15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not.
16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:
17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.
18 And the word of the Lord of hosts came unto me, saying,
19 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.
20 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
21 And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts: I will go also.
22 Yea, many people and strong nations shall come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the Lord.
23 Thus saith the Lord of hosts; In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
1Againe the word of the Lord of hostes came to me, saying;
2Thus sayeth the Lord of hostes, I was iealous for Zion, with great iealousie; and I was iealous for her with great furie.
3Thus saith the Lord, I am returned vnto Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Ierusalem, and Ierusalem shall be called a Citie of trueth, and the Mountaine of the Lord of hostes, the holy Mountaine.
4Thus saith the Lord of hosts; There shall yet old men, and old women, dwell in the streets of Ierusalem, and euery man with his staffe in his hand for very age.
5And the streets of the citie shall be full of boyes and girles playing in the streets thereof.
6Thus saith the Lord of hosts, If it bee marueilous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these dayes, should it also bee marueilous in my eyes, saith the Lord of hostes?
7Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Beholde, I will saue my people from the East countrey, and from the West countrey.
8And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Ierusalem, and they shalbe my people, and I will bee their God, in Trueth and in Righteousnesse.
9 Thus saith the Lord of hostes, Let your handes be strong, ye that heare in these dayes, these wordes by the mouth of the Prophets, which were in the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laied, that the Temple might be built.
10For before these daies there was no hire for man, nor any hire for beast, neither was there any peace to him that went out, or came in, because of the affliction: for I set all men, euery one against his neighbour.
11But now I will not bee vnto the residue of this people, as in the former daies, saith the Lord of hostes.
12For the seed shalbe prosperous: the Uine shall giue her fruit, and the ground shall giue her increase, and the heauens shall giue their dew, and I will cause the remnant of this people to possesse all these things.
13And it shall come to passe, that as yee were a curse among the heathen, O house of Iudah, and house of Israel; so will I saue you, and ye shalbe a blessing: feare not, but let your handes bee strong.
14For thus saith the Lord of hostes, As I thought to punish you, when your fathers prouoked mee to wrath, saith the Lord of hostes, and I repented not:
15So againe haue I thought in these dayes to doe well vnto Ierusalem, and to the house of Iudah: feare ye not.
16 These are the things that yee shall doe; Speake yee euery man the truth to his neighbor: execute the iudgment of trueth and peace in your gates.
17And let none of you imagine euill in your hearts against his neighbour, and loue no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the Lord.
18 And the word of the Lord of hostes came vnto me, saying,
19Thus saith the Lord of hosts; The fast of the fourth moneth, and the fast of the fift, and the fast of the seuenth, and the fast of the tenth shall be to the house of Iudah ioy and gladnesse, and cheerefull feasts: therefore loue the trueth and peace.
20Thus saith the Lord of hosts, It shall yet come to passe, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities.
21And the inhabitants of one citie shall goe to another, saying, Let vs goe speedily to pray before the Lord, and to seeke the Lord of hostes: I will goe also.
22Yea many people and strong nations shall come to seeke the Lord of hostes in Ierusalem, and to pray before the Lord.
23Thus saith the Lord of hosts, In those daies it shall come to passe, that ten men shall take holde out of all languages of the nations, euen shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Iew, saying, Wee will goe with you: for we haue heard that God is with you.

1 This word of the LORD of hosts came: Thus says the LORD of hosts:
2 I am intensely jealous for Zion, stirred to jealous wrath for her.
3 Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and I will dwell within Jerusalem; Jerusalem shall be called the faithful city, and the mountain of the LORD of hosts, the holy mountain.
4 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women, each with staff in hand because of old age, shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem.
5 The city shall be filled with boys and girls playing in her streets.
6 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Even if this should seem impossible in the eyes of the remnant of this people, shall it in those days be impossible in my eyes also, says the LORD of hosts?
7 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Lo, I will rescue my people from the land of the rising sun, and from the land of the setting sun.
8 I will bring them back to dwell within Jerusalem. They shall be my people, and I will be their God, with faithfulness and justice.
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who in these days hear these words spoken by the prophets on the day when the foundation of the house of the LORD of hosts was laid for the building of the temple.
10 For before those days there were no wages for men, or hire for beasts; those who came and went had no security from the enemy, for I set every man against his neighbor.
11 But now I will not deal with the remnant of this people as in former days, says the LORD of hosts,
12 for it is the seedtime of peace: the vine shall yield its fruit, the land shall bear its crops, and the heavens shall give their dew; all these things I will have the remnant of the people possess.
13 Just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so will I save you that you may be a blessing; do not fear, but let your hands be strong.
14 Thus says the LORD of hosts: As I determined to harm you when your fathers provoked me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I did not relent,
15 so again in these days I have determined to favor Jerusalem and the house of Judah; do not fear!
16 These then are the things you should do: Speak the truth to one another; let there be honesty and peace in the judgments at your gates,
17 and let none of you plot evil against another in his heart, nor love a false oath. For all these things I hate, says the LORD.
18 This word of the LORD of hosts came to me:
19 Thus says the LORD of hosts: The fast days of the fourth, the fifth, the seventh, and the tenth months shall become occasions of joy and gladness, cheerful festivals for the house of Judah; only love faithfulness and peace.
20 Thus says the LORD of hosts: There shall yet come peoples, the inhabitants of many cities;
21 and the inhabitants of one city shall approach those of another, and say, "Come! let us go to implore the favor of the LORD"; and, "I too will go to seek the LORD."
22 Many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem and to implore the favor of the LORD.
23 Thus says the LORD of hosts: In those days ten men of every nationality, speaking different tongues, shall take hold, yes, take hold of every Jew by the edge of his garment and say, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you."
v 1-2. The third message from God to Zechariah compares the return from exile to future blessing of the Millennial Age. God had an intense jealousy for Israel, and in the Millennium He will dwell in Jerusalem among them, when Christ sits on the throne.
v 3. Zion will then be called a city of truth and the mount holy, set apart for God.
v 4,5. Streets there will be safe and full of old folks and children.
v 6. These blessings seem marvelous to the exile remnant, but common to God.
v 7,8. World wide regathering to the holy land begins righteousness, faithfulness.
v 9-13. The people are to be strong and listen to Haggai and Zechariah, who were in Jerusalem when the foundation of the temple was laid. Previously there was much opposition from enemies God allowed to harass as well as internal strife. Now the work will progress, and the role reversed, with Israel being a blessing, not a curse.
v 14-17. God had punished Judah for sin, but now He wants to do good to them. He just expects of them truth, mercy, justice and honesty.
v 18,19. The Lord answers the question the men of Bethel had raised, 7:2,3. The fasts would become feasts of joy if they obeyed. The ultimate fulfillment of that will be in the Millennium. Two additional fasts are mentioned. One on the 10th day of the 10th month to remember when the siege of Jerusalem was begun, and the 9th day of the 4th month to remember it’s capture by Nebuchadnezzar.
v 20-23. In the Millennium many people will come to worship in Jerusalem. They will know that God is with the Jews and will take hold of the skirt with a fringe and blue ribbon, Num. 15:38; Deut. 22:12, with the hope of sharing in their blessings.
