Isaiah 15
THE burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;
2 He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.
3 In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly.
4 And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.
5 My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.
6 For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.
7 Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.
8 For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beer-elim.
9 For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.
1The burden of Moab: because in the night Ar of Moab is laide waste and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laide waste, and brought to silence:
2Hee is gone vp to Baijth, and to Dibon, the high places, to weepe: Moab shall howle ouer Nebo, and ouer Medeba, on all their heads shalbe baldnesse, and euery beard cut off.
3In their streetes they shall girde themselues with sackecloth: on the toppes of their houses, and in their streetes euery one shall howle, weeping abundantly.
4And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shalbe heard euen vnto Iahaz: therefore the armed souldiers of Moab shall crie out, his life shall be grieuous vnto him.
5My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitiues shall flee vnto Zoar, an heifer of three yeeres olde: for by the mounting vp of Luhith with weeping shall they goe it vp: for in the way of Horonaim, they shall raise vp a crie of destruction.
6For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grasse faileth, there is no greene thing.
7Therefore the abundance they haue gotten, and that which they haue laide vp, shall they cary away to the brooke of the willowes.
8For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab: the howling thereof vnto Eglaim, and the howling thereof vnto Beer-Elim.
9For the waters of Dimon shalbe full of blood: for I will bring more vpon Dimon, lyons vpon him that escapeth of Moab, and vpon the remnant of the land.

1 Oracle on Moab: Laid waste in a night, Ar of Moab is destroyed; Laid waste in a night, Kir of Moab is destroyed.
2 Up goes daughter Dibon to the high places to weep; Over Nebo and over Medeba Moab wails. Every head is shaved, every beard sheared off.
3 In the streets they wear sackcloth, lamenting and weeping; On the rooftops and in the squares everyone wails.
4 Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, they are heard as far as Jahaz. At this the loins of Moab tremble, his soul quivers within him;
5 The heart of Moab cries out, his fugitives reach Zoar (Eglath-shelishiyah). The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the way to Horonaim they utter rending cries.
6 The waters of Nimrim have become a waste; The grass is withered, new growth is gone, nothing is green.
7 So now whatever they have acquired or stored away they carry across the Gorge of the Poplars,
8 For the cry has gone round the land of Moab; As far as Eglaim the wailing, and to Beer-elim, the wail.
9 The waters of Dimon are filled with blood, but I will bring still more upon Dimon: Lions for those who are fleeing from Moab and for those who remain in the land!
v 1-4. Moab is mentioned many times in Scripture in a bad light. Judgment will lay Moab waste and everyone in great mourning.
v 5-9. Even Isaiah is moved with pity, v 5, for the terrible distress which would take place from one end to the other of Moab, as if a lion were in pursuit of them.
