Deuteronomy 30
1And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,
2And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
3That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
4If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:
5And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
6And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
7And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
8And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.
9And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:
10If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.
11For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
12It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
13Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.
15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
16In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.
17But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;
18I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and thatye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.
19I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
20That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
1And it shall come to passe when all these things are come vpon thee, the blessing, and the curse, which I haue set before thee, and thou shalt call them to minde among all the nations whither the Lord thy God hath driuen thee,
2And shalt returne vnto the Lord thy God, and shalt obey his voyce according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children with al thine heart, and with all thy soule:
3That then the Lord thy God will turne thy captiuitie, and haue compassion vpon thee, and wil returne and gather thee from all the nations whither the Lord thy God hath scattered thee.
4If any of thine be driuen out vnto the outmost parts of heauen, from thence will the Lord thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee.
5And the Lord thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possesse it: and he will doe thee good, and multiply thee aboue thy fathers.
6And the Lord thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to loue the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule, that thou mayest liue.
7And the Lord thy God will put all these curses vpon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
8And thou shalt returne and obey the voice of the Lord, and doe all his Commandements which I command thee this day.
9And the Lord thy God will make thee plenteous in euery worke of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattell, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the Lord will againe reioyce ouer thee for good, as he reioyced ouer thy fathers:
10If thou shalt hearken vnto the voyce of the Lord thy God to keepe his Commandements, and his Statutes which are written in this booke of the Law, and if thou turne vnto the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soule.
11 For this Commaundement which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it farre off.
12It is not in heauen, that thou shouldest say, Who shal goe vp for vs to heauen, and bring it vnto vs, that wee may heare it, and doe it?
13Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall goe ouer the sea for vs, and bring it vnto vs, that we may heare it, and doe it?
14But the word is very nigh vnto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest doe it.
15 See, I haue set before thee this day, life and good, and death, and euill:
16In that I command thee this day to loue the Lord thy God, to walke in his wayes, and to keepe his Commandements, and his Statutes, and his Iudgements, that thou maiest liue and multiply: and the Lord thy God shall blesse thee in the land, whither thou goest to possesse it.
17But if thine heart turne away, so that thou wilt not heare, but shalt bee drawen away, and worship other gods and serue them:
18I denounce vnto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that yee shall not prolong your dayes vpon the land, whither thou passest ouer Iordan, to goe to possesse it.
19I call heauen and earth to record this day against you, that I haue set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may liue:
20That thou maiest loue the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voyce, and that thou mayest cleaue vnto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy dayes, that thou mayest dwell in the land, which the Lord sware vnto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Iacob, to giue them.

1 "When all these things which I have set before you, the blessings and the curses, are fulfilled in you, and from among whatever nations the LORD, your God, may have dispersed you, you ponder them in your heart:
2 then, provided that you and your children return to the LORD, your God, and heed his voice with all your heart and all your soul, just as I now command you,
3 the LORD, your God, will change your lot; and taking pity on you, he will again gather you from all the nations wherein he has scattered you.
4 Though you may have been driven to the farthest corner of the world, even from there will the LORD, your God, gather you; even from there will he bring you back.
5 The LORD, your God, will then bring you into the land which your fathers once occupied, that you too may occupy it, and he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers.
6 The LORD, your God, will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, that you may love the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul, and so may live.
7 But all those curses the LORD, your God, will assign to your enemies and the foes who persecuted you.
8 You, however, must again heed the LORD'S voice and carry out all his commandments which I now enjoin on you.
9 Then the LORD, your God, will increase in more than goodly measure the returns from all your labors, the fruit of your womb, the offspring of your livestock, and the produce of your soil; for the LORD, your God, will again take delight in your prosperity, even as he took delight in your fathers',
10 if only you heed the voice of the LORD, your God, and keep his commandments and statutes that are written in this book of the law, when you return to the LORD, your God, with all your heart and all your soul.
11 "For this command which I enjoin on you today is not too mysterious and remote for you.
12 It is not up in the sky, that you should say, 'Who will go up in the sky to get it for us and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?'
13 Nor is it across the sea, that you should say, 'Who will cross the sea to get it for us and tell us of it, that we may carry it out?'
14 No, it is something very near to you, already in your mouths and in your hearts; you have only to carry it out.
15 "Here, then, I have today set before you life and prosperity, death and doom.
16 If you obey the commandments of the LORD, your God, which I enjoin on you today, loving him, and walking in his ways, and keeping his commandments, statutes and decrees, you will live and grow numerous, and the LORD, your God, will bless you in the land you are entering to occupy.
17 If, however, you turn away your hearts and will not listen, but are led astray and adore and serve other gods,
18 I tell you now that you will certainly perish; you will not have a long life on the land which you are crossing the Jordan to enter and occupy.
19 I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live,
20 by loving the LORD, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him. For that will mean life for you, a long life for you to live on the land which the LORD swore he would give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob."
v 1-10. Restoration under the Palestinian Covenant depended on Israel’s repentance. Circumcision separated Israel from other nations, but it did not separate the world from Israel or Israel unto God. That could only be done by an internal operation, the circumcision of the heart, v 6. They must “Return to God with all thy heart and with all thy soul”, v 10.
v 11-14. Moses concludes this message by emphasizing that God’s revelation is not by secret organizations, rituals, pilgrimages and such. They clearly knew God’s will, it was in their mouths and hearts, v 14. All they needed to do was obey it.
v 15-20. God had set before Israel a choice, life or death, good or evil, blessing or cursing. He allowed them to make the choice, but His desire was that they should choose life and live. Then they could have all the blessings He had promised to their forefathers.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you,v 19. That same challenge is open to us, to choose life or death. Unsaved may choose eternal life with God, or eternal separation from Him in the torments of Hell. Believers may choose abundant life now and rewards to follow, or they can choose to live as they please, ignoring God, possibly facing chastening or other consequences of their disobedience, and enter heaven with no rewards. Which will it be?
