KING JAMES BIBLE KING JAMES 1611 VERSES TO VERSES THE NEW AMERICAN BIBLE COMMENTARIE

1. IN the five and twentieth year of our captivity, in the beginning of the year, in the tenth day of the month, in the fourteenth year after that the city was smitten, in the selfsame day the hand of the Lord was upon me, and brought me thither.
2 In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
3 And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.
4 And the man said unto me, Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee; for to the intent that I might shew them unto thee art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest to the house of Israel.
5 And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man’s hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
6 Then came he unto the gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad; and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.
7 And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the threshold of the gate by the porch of the gate within was one reed.
8 He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed.
9 Then measured he the porch of the gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the porch of the gate was inward.
10 And the little chambers of the gate eastward were three on this side, and three on that side; they three were of one measure: and the posts had one measure on this side and on that side.
11 And he measured the breadth of the entry of the gate, ten cubits; and the length of the gate, thirteen cubits.
12 The space also before the little chambers was one cubit on this side, and the space was one cubit on that side: and the little chambers were six cubits on this side, and six cubits on that side.
13 He measured then the gate from the roof of one little chamber to the roof of another: the breadth was five and twenty cubits, door against door.
14 He made also posts of threescore cubits, even unto the post of the court round about the gate.
15 And from the face of the gate of the entrance unto the face of the porch of the inner gate were fifty cubits.
16 And there were narrow windows to the little chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windows were round about inward: and upon each post were palm trees.
17 Then brought he me into the outward court, and, lo, there were chambers, and a pavement made for the court round about: thirty chambers were upon the pavement.
18 And the pavement by the side of the gates over against the length of the gates was the lower pavement.
19 Then he measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate unto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits eastward and northward.
20 And the gate of the outward court that looked toward the north, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.
21 And the little chambers thereof were three on this side and three on that side; and the posts thereof and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
22 And their windows, and their arches, and their palm trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh toward the east; and they went up unto it by seven steps; and the arches thereof were before them.
23 And the gate of the inner court was over against the gate toward the north, and toward the east; and he measured from gate to gate an hundred cubits.
24 After that he brought me toward the south, and behold a gate toward the south: and he measured the posts thereof and the arches thereof according to these measures.
25 And there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about, like those windows: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
26 And there were seven steps to go up to it, and the arches thereof were before them: and it had palm trees, one on this side, and another on that side, upon the posts thereof.
27 And there was a gate in the inner court toward the south: and he measured from gate to gate toward the south an hundred cubits.
28 And he brought me to the inner court by the south gate: and he measured the south gate according to these measures;
29 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, according to these measures: and there were windows in it and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.
30 And the arches round about were five and twenty cubits long, and five cubits broad.
31 And the arches thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof: and the going up to it had eight steps.
32 And he brought me into the inner court toward the east: and he measured the gate according to these measures.
33 And the little chambers thereof, and the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, were according to these measures: and there were windows therein and in the arches thereof round about: it was fifty cubits long, and five and twenty cubits broad.
34 And the arches thereof were toward the outward court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
35 And he brought me to the north gate, and measured it according to these measures;
36 The little chambers thereof, the posts thereof, and the arches thereof, and the windows to it round about: the length was fifty cubits, and the breadth five and twenty cubits.
37 And the posts thereof were toward the utter court; and palm trees were upon the posts thereof, on this side, and on that side: and the going up to it had eight steps.
38 And the chambers and the entries thereof were by the posts of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.
39 And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering and the sin offering and the trespass offering.
40 And at the side without, as one goeth up to the entry of the north gate, were two tables; and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.
41 Four tables were on this side, and four tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.
42 And the four tables were of hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a cubit and an half long, and a cubit and an half broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laid the instruments wherewith they slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
43 And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about: and upon the tables was the flesh of the offering.
44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
45 And he said unto me, This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
46 And the chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the Lord to minister unto him.
47 So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.
48 And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.

49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits; and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.

1In the fiue and twentieth yeere of our captiuitie, in the beginning of the yere, in the tenth day of the moneth, in the fourteenth yeere after that the citie was smitten, in the selfe same day, the hand of the Lord was vpon mee, and brought me thither.

2In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set mee vpon a very high mountaine, by which was as the frame of a citie on the South.

3And he brought mee thither, and behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brasse, with a line of flaxe in his hand, & a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.

4And the man saide vnto mee; Sonne of man, behold with thine eyes, and heare with thine eares, & set thine heart vpon all that I shall shew thee: for to the intent that I might shew them vnto thee, art thou brought hither: declare all that thou seest, to the house of Israel.

5And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about: and in the mans hand a measuring reed of sixe cubites long, by the cubite, and an hand breadth: so hee measured the breadth of the building, one reed, and the height one reed.

6 Then came hee vnto the gate which looketh toward the East, and went vp the staires thereof, and measured the threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad, and the other threshold of the gate, which was one reed broad.

7And euery little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad, and betweene the litle chambers were fiue cubites, & the threshold of the gate, by the porch of the gate within was one reed.

8He measured also the porch of the gate within, one reed.

9Then measured hee the porch of the gate, eight cubites, and the postes thereof two cubits, and the porch of the gate was inward.

10And the litle chambers of the gate Eastward, were three on this side, and three on that side, they three were of one measure, and the postes had one measure on this side, and on that side.

11And hee measured the breadth of the entrie of the gate, ten cubits, and the length of the gate, thirteene cubites.

12The space also before the litle chambers was one cubite on this side, and the space was one cubite on that side, and the litle chambers were sixe cubites on this side, and sixe cubits on that side.

13Hee measured then the gate from the roofe of the one litle chamber to the roofe of another: the breadth was fiue and twentie cubits, doore against doore.

14He made also postes of threescore cubites, euen vnto the poste of the court round about the gate.

15And from the face of the gate of the entrance, vnto the face of the porch of the inner gate, were fiftie cubites.

16And there were narrow windows to the litle chambers, and to their posts within the gate round about, and likewise to the arches: and windowes were round about inward: and vpon ech post were palme-trees.

17Then brought he me into the outward court, and loe there were chambers, and a pauement, made for the court round about: thirtie chambers were vpon the pauement.

18And the pauement by the side of the gates ouer against the length of the gates, was the lower pauement.

19Then hee measured the breadth from the forefront of the lower gate, vnto the forefront of the inner court without, an hundred cubits Eastward and Northward.

20 And the gate of the outward court, that looked toward the North, he measured the length thereof, and the breadth thereof.

21And the little chambers thereof were three on this side, and three on that side, and the postes thereof, and the arches thereof were after the measure of the first gate: the length thereof was fiftie cubites, and the breadth fiue and twentie cubites.

22And their windowes, and their arches, and their palme trees, were after the measure of the gate that looketh towards the East, and they went vp vnto it by seuen steps, and the arches thereof were before them.

23And the gate of the inner court was ouer against the gate toward the North and toward the East, and hee measured from gate to gate an hundreth cubites.

24 After that hee brought me toward the South, and behold a gate toward the South, and he measured the postes thereof, and the arches thereof according to these measures.

25And there were windowes in it, and in the arches thereof round about, like those windowes, the length was fiftie cubites, and the breadth fiue and twentie cubites.

26And there were seuen steps to goe vp to it, and the arches thereof were before them, and it had palme trees, one on this side, and another on that side vpon the postes thereof.

27And there was a gate in the inner court toward the South, and he measured from gate to gate toward the South an hundred cubites.

28And hee brought me to the inner court by the South gate, and he measured the South gate according to these measures,

29And the little chambers thereof, and the postes thereof, and the arches thereof according to these measures, and there were windowes in it, and in the arches thereof round about: it was fiftie cubites long, and fiue and twentie cubites broad.

30And the arches round about were fiue and twenty cubits long, and fiue cubites broad.

31And the arches thereof were toward the vtter court, and palme trees were vpon the postes thereof, and the going vp to it had eight steps.

32 And hee brought me into the inner court toward the East, and hee measured the gate according to these measures.

33And the little chambers thereof, and the postes thereof, and the arches thereof were according to these measures, and there were windowes therein, and in the arches thereof round about, it was fiftie cubites long, and fiue and twentie cubits broad.

34And the arches thereof were toward the outward court, and palme trees were vpon the postes thereof on this side, and on that side, and the going vp to it had eight steps.

35 And hee brought me to the North gate, and measured it according to these measures.

36The little chambers thereof, the postes thereof, and the arches thereof and the windowes to it round about: the length was fiftie cubites, and the breadth fiue and twentie cubites.

37And the postes thereof were toward the vtter court, and palme trees were vpon the posts thereof on this side, and on that side, and the going vp to it had eight steps.

38And the chambers, and the entries thereof were by the postes of the gates, where they washed the burnt offering.

39 And in the porch of the gate were two tables on this side, and two tables on that side, to slay thereon the burnt offering, and the sinne offering, and the trespasse offering.

40And at the side without, as one goeth vp to the entry of the North gate, were two tables, and on the other side, which was at the porch of the gate, were two tables.

41Foure tables were on this side, and foure tables on that side, by the side of the gate; eight tables, whereupon they slew their sacrifices.

42And the foure tables were of hewen stone for the burnt offering, of a cubite and an halfe long, and a cubite & a halfe broad, and one cubit high: whereupon also they laide the instruments wherewith they slewe the burnt offering and the sacrifice.

43And within were hooks, an hand broad, fastened round about, and vpon the tables was the flesh of the offering.

44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the North gate: and their prospect was toward the South, one at the side of the East gate, hauing the prospect toward the North.

45And hee said vnto me; This chamber whose prospect is toward the South, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.

46And the chamber whose prospect is toward the North, is for the priests the keepers of the charge of the altar: these are the sonnes of Zadok among the sonnes of Leui, which come neere to the Lord to minister vnto him.

47So he measured the court, an hundreth cubites long, and an hundreth cubites broad foure square, and the altar that was before the house.

48 And he brought me to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, fiue cubites on this side, and fiue cubites on that side: and the bredth of the gate was three cubites on this side, and three cubites on that side.

49The length of the porch was twentie cubites, and the bredth eleuen cubites, and he brought me by the steps, whereby they went vp to it, and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.

1 On the tenth day of the month beginning the twenty-fifth year of our exile, fourteen years after the city was taken, that very day the hand of the LORD came upon me and brought me

2 in divine visions to the land of Israel, where he set me down on a very high mountain. On it there seemed to be a city being built before me.

3 When he had brought me there, all at once I saw a man whose appearance was that of bronze; he was standing in the gate, holding a linen cord and a measuring rod.

4 The man said to me, "Son of man, look carefully and listen intently, and pay strict attention to all that I will show you, for you have been brought here so that I might show it to you. Tell the house of Israel all that you see."

5 (Then I saw an outer wall that completely surrounded the temple. The man was holding a measuring rod six cubits long, each cubit being a cubit and a handbreadth; he measured the width and the height of the structure, each of which were found to be one rod.)

6 Then he went to the gate which faced the east, climbed its steps, and measured the gate's threshold, which was found to be a rod wide.

7 The cells were a rod long and a rod wide, and the pilasters between the cells measured five cubits. The threshold of the gate adjoining the vestibule of the gate toward the inside measured one rod.

8 He measured the vestibule of the gate,

9 which was eight cubits, and its pilasters, which were two cubits. The vestibule of the gate was toward the inside.

10 The cells of the east gate were three on either side, of equal size, and the pilasters on either side were also of equal size.

11 He measured the gate's entrance, which was ten cubits wide, while the width of the gate's passage itself was thirteen cubits.

12 The border before each of the cells on both sides was one cubit; the cells themselves were six cubits on either side, from opening to opening.

13 He measured the gate from the back wall of one cell to the back wall of the cell on the opposite side: the width was twenty-five cubits.

14 He measured the vestibule, which was twenty-five cubits. The pilasters adjoining the court on either side were six cubits.

15 The length of the gate from the front entrance to the front of the vestibule on the inside was fifty cubits.

16 Within the gateway on both sides there were splayed windows let into the cells (and into their pilasters); likewise, within the vestibule on both sides there were windows. The pilasters were decorated with palms.

17 Then he brought me to the outer court, where there were chambers and a pavement. The pavement was laid all around the court, and the chambers, which were on the pavement, were thirty in number.

18 The pavement lay alongside the gates, as wide as the gates were long; this was the lower pavement.

19 He measured the width of the court from the front of the lower gate to the front of the inner gate; it was one hundred cubits between them. Then he proceeded north,

20 where, on the outer court, there was a gate facing north, whose length and width he measured.

21 Its cells, three on either side, its pilasters, and its vestibule had the same measurements as those of the first gate; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

22 Its windows, the windows of its vestibule, and its palm decorations were of the same proportions as those of the gate facing the east. Seven steps led up to it, and its vestibule was toward the inside.

23 The inner court had a gate opposite the north gate, just as at the east gate; he measured one hundred cubits from one gate to the other.

24 Then he led me south, to where there was a southern gate, whose cells, pilasters, and vestibule he measured; they were the same size as the others.

25 The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides, like the other windows. It was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

26 It was ascended by seven steps; its vestibule was toward the inside; and it was decorated with palms here and there on its pilasters.

27 The inner court also had a southern gate; from gate to gate he measured one hundred cubits.

28 Then he brought me to the inner court by the south gate, where he measured the south gate. Its dimensions were the same as the others;

29 its cells, its pilasters, and its vestibule were the same size as the others. The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides; and it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

31 But its vestibule was toward the outer court; palms were on its pilasters, and it had a stairway of eight steps.

32 Then he brought me to the gate facing the east, where he measured the gate, whose dimensions were found to be the same.

33 Its cells, its pilasters, and its vestibule were the same size as the others; the gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

34 But its vestibule was toward the outer court; palms were on its pilasters here and there, and it had a stairway of eight steps.

35 Then he brought me to the north gate, where he measured the dimensions

36 of its cells, its pilasters, and its vestibule, and found them the same. The gate and its vestibule had windows on both sides; it was fifty cubits long and twenty-five cubits wide.

37 Its vestibule was toward the outer court; palms were on its pilasters here and there, and it had a stairway of eight steps.

38 There was a chamber opening off the vestibule of the gate, where the holocausts were rinsed.

39 In the vestibule of the gate there were two tables on either side, on which were slaughtered the sin offerings and guilt offerings.

40 Along the wall of the vestibule, but outside, near the entrance of the north gate, were two tables, and on the other side of the vestibule of the gate there were two tables.

41 There were four tables on either side of the gate (eight tables), on which the sacrifices were slaughtered.

42 There were four tables for holocausts, made of cut stone, one and a half cubits long, one and a half cubits wide, and one cubit high.

43 The ledges, a handbreadth wide, were set on the inside all around, and on them were laid the instruments with which the holocausts were slaughtered. On the tables themselves the flesh was laid.

44 He then led me to the inner court where there were two chambers, one beside the north gate, facing south, and the other beside the south gate, facing north.

45 He said to me, "This chamber which faces south is for the priests who have charge of the temple,

46 and the chamber which faces north is for the priests who have charge of the altar. These are the Zadokites, the only Levites who may come near to minister to the LORD."

47 Then he measured the court, which was a hundred cubits long and a hundred cubits wide, a perfect square. The altar stood in front of the temple.

48 Then he brought me into the vestibule of the temple and measured the pilasters on each side, which were five cubits. The width of the doorway was fourteen cubits, and the side walls on either side of the door measured three cubits.

49 The vestibule was twenty cubits wide and twelve cubits deep; ten steps led up to it, and there were columns by the pilasters, one on either side.

The temple Ezek. 40 on and Zechariah 14:8 is millennial. Rev. 22:1,2 eternal.

v 1-4. This was possibly the day of Atonement, Oct. 22, 573 BC that the Lord had an angel give Ezekiel a visionary tour of Jerusalem, different from his vision in 8:3. The rod was 10.5 feet. The flax line was for measuring longer distances.

v 5. The wall around the Millennial Temple was 10 1/2 feet both thick and high.

v 6-16. There is no point in repeating dimensions here. The gate, threshold of the temple was in the east with it’s porch and steps, and palm trees on each post.

v 17-19. There were 30 rooms around the north, east and south walls of the court.

v 20-49. I suggest Larkin p 93-94 or Bible Knowledge Commentary p 1303 & 1305 for good diagrams that could be better understood than repetition in notes. Keep in mind there are 8 tables set up for slaughtering,

Many animals were slaughtered under the Levitical system in anticipation of the Christ’s death. After the death of Christ, that was replaced by the Lord’s Table, in memory of His death. In the Millennium, the Jews will again be central, and they will have sacrifices in memory of His death and suffering. Many of the sacrifices and other ceremonies will not be there though, such as Pentecost and others already fulfilled. There will be no high priest, Christ Himself will be there.
