Psalms 125

KING JAMES BIBLE

A Song of degrees.

1 THEY that trust in the Lord shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever.
2 As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about his people from henceforth even for ever.
3 For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity.
4 Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, and to them that are upright in their hearts.
5 As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

2 As mountains surround Jerusalem, the LORD surrounds his people both now and forever.

3 The scepter of the wicked will not prevail in the land allotted to the just, Lest the just themselves turn their hands to evil.

4 Do good, LORD, to the good, to those who are upright of heart.

5 But those who turn aside to crooked waysmay the LORD send down with the evildoers. Peace upon Israel!

COMMENTARIE

PSALM 125 A HYMN OF TRUST.

V 1-3 Those who trust in the Lord will be as unshakable as a mountain, and the Lord will not allow them to be tested above what they are able, 1 Cor. 10:13.

v 4,5 The pilgrim prayed for blessing on the upright, but warned that those who turned from God, He would give up to their vile affections, Rom. 1:26.
