Psalms
75 God Will Judge Fairly
To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, A Psalm or Song of Asaph.
UNTO thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
1To the chiefe musician Al-taschith, A Psalme or song of Asaph. Unto thee, O God, doe we giue thankes, vnto thee doe we giue thanks: for that thy name is nere, thy wonderous works declare.
2When I shall receiue the congregation, I will iudge vprightly.
3The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolued: I beare vp the pillars of it. Selah.
4I said vnto the fooles, Deale not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not vp the horne.
5Lift not vp your horne on high: speake not with a stiffe necke.
6For promotion commeth neither from the East, nor from the West, nor from the South.
7But God is the iudge: he putteth downe one, and setteth vp another.
8For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red: it is full of mixture, and he powreth out of the same: but the dregges thereof all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drinke them.
9But I will declare for euer; I will sing praises to the God of Iacob.
10All the hornes of the wicked also will I cut off; but the hornes of the righteous shall be exalted.

1 For the leader. Do not destroy! A psalm of Asaph; a song.
2 We thank you, God, we give thanks; we call upon your name, we declare your wonderful deeds. [You said:]
3“I will choose the time; I will judge fairly.
4 Though the earth and all its inhabitants quake, I make steady its pillars.”
5 So I say to the boastful: “Do not boast!” to the wicked: “Do not raise your horns!
6 Do not raise your horns against heaven! Do not speak with a stiff neck!”
7 For judgment comes not from east or from west, not from the wilderness or the mountains,
8 But from God who decides, who brings some low and raises others high.
9 Yes, a cup is in the LORD’s hand, foaming wine, fully spiced. When God pours it out, they will drain it even to the dregs; all the wicked of the earth will drink.
10 But I will rejoice forever; I will sing praise to the God of Jacob,
11 [Who has said:] “I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be exalted.”
V 1-3 God’s works declare Him, cp. Ps. 19:1. God will judge, He causes earthquakes, but also sustains it, Col. 1:17.
V 4-10. God warns the wicked not to defy Him for He will judge when he chooses. Wicked shall drink the last drop to their destruction, but righteous exalted. It should be noted in v 6 that promotion would refer to judgment, and it comes out of the north, the place of heaven. Sides of the north, Isa. 14:13; empty place, Job 26:7.
