1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David.
HOW long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

4Least mine enimie say, I haue preuailed against him: and those that trouble mee, reioyce, when I am moued.

5But I haue trusted in thy mercy, my heart shall reioyce in thy saluation.

6I will sing vnto the Lord, because hee hath dealt bountifully with mee.

1 For the leader. A psalm of David.

2 How long, LORD? Will you utterly forget me? How long will you hide your face from me?

3 How long must I carry sorrow in my soul, grief in my heart day after day? How long will my enemy triumph over me?

4 Look upon me, answer me, LORD, my God! Give light to my eyes lest I sleep in death,

5 Lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed,” lest my foes rejoice at my downfall.

6 But I trust in your mercy. Grant my heart joy in your salvation, I will sing to the LORD, for he has dealt bountifully with me!

v 1,2. David feels God is ignoring him and allowing the enemy to triumph. This entire Psalm is one which can cause every believer to take heart.

 

v 3,4. David urges the Lord to rescue him before he dies, which would cause his enemies to rejoice.

 

 

v 5,6. David trusts that his prayer had been heard, so he will sing unto the Lord.
