Psalms 87

KING JAMES BIBLE

A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah.
HIS foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The Lord loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.
4 I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.
5 And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.
6 The Lord shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.
7 As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

1A Psalme or song for the sonnes of Korah. His foundation is in the holy mountaines.

2The Lord loueth the gates of Zion: more then all the dwellings of Iacob.

3Glorious things are spoken of thee, O Citie of God. Selah.

4I will make mention of Rahab, and Babylon, to them that know mee; behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: this man was borne there.

5And of Zion it shalbe said, This and that man was borne in her: and the highest himselfe shall establish her.

6The Lord shall count when he writeth vp the people: that this man was borne there. Selah.

7As wel the singers as the players on instruments shall bee there: all my springs are in thee.

4 Rahab and Babylon I count among those who know me. See, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia, “This one was born there.”

5 *And of Zion it will be said: “Each one was born in it. The Most High will establish it;

6 the LORD notes in the register of the peoples: “This one was born there.” Selah

7 So singers and dancers: “All my springs are in you.”

COMMENTARIE

Verses 1-3 God has chosen Zion as His dwelling place above all others, and many glorious things have happened there. Selah - think of that!
Verses 4-6 In the future all nations will gather there under the blessing of God.
Verse 7 All nations will rejoice there and God’s presence will be there, the fountain of every blessing.
